The Clematis Fire Brigade was formed in 1936 to fight bush fires in Clematis and local areas. From an assortment of beaters and shovels the brigade has evolved over the years. The First truck was an Austin Tanker supplied by the CFA. Today the brigade attends wildfires, structure fires and an assortment of incidents including car accidents, rescues, chemical spills and special service calls. The members travel in a CFA issue 1992 Hino 2000 Litre Tanker, a Brigade Owned Mazda BT50 Slip-On and a Nissan Patrol Car.
Clematis has been involved with nearly every major fire around Victoria and even some Interstate. Including Ash Wednesday, 1997 Dandenong Ranges Fires, 01/02 NSW Fires, 03 North East and Gippsland Fires, 06 Morwell Open Cut Mine and 06/07 Great Divide Complex and more recent the Black Saturday Bushfires, among a number of others.
As well as weekly training and meetings the members attend about 90 calls per year.
Clematis Seniors train every Wednesday at 7:30.
